Responsibilities

Great new Career Opportunity in Hospice!

 

Now Hiring - Vigil Aides - Needed for All locations including Metrowest, North, South, and Western Mass 

 

Hours: Flexible - for Vigil needs (days/evenings/nights/weekends) 

 

Must have reliable transportation and be willing to travel within assigned geography

 

This Vigil Aide will be responsible for, but not limited to:

  1. Sit bedside with hospice patients while they are transitioning in the last 24-48 hours of life.
  2. Provide care and relief to families during the end of life journey.
  3. Ensure a safe, calm and comfortable environment in the private home or facility setting.
  4. Provide presence, companionship, and comfort for hospice patients when they are actively passing.
  5. Maintain a sacred relationship and provide emotional support to patients and their families.
  6. Provides or assists in ADL activities; personal hygiene, grooming, mouth, skin care and nails.
  7. Provides assistance in toileting; positioning and transfer activities, frequent turning and positioning of a bed bound resident/patient.
  8. Assists with the prescribed exercise and ROM activities which the resident/patient and Hospice aide have been taught by the Hospice Nurse.
  9. Assists with light housekeeping of individual's personal unit or room, including changing of bed linen, if needed and patient laundry.
  10. Feeds and assists with meals.
  11. Obtains temperature, pulse and respirations as supervised by the Hospice Nurse.
  12. Reports any changes in resident's/patient's condition to the Hospice Nurse and if in a facility, to the facility nurse. Documents on the appropriate EMR according to Ascend policy.

Qualifications

Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent

 

Professional Experience:

  • Experience in hospice or home health, preferred, not required
  • Candidate does not have to be licensed
  • Compassion and desire to work with Hospice patients 
  • No experience necessary but 1 year, preferred
  • Must be willing to travel
  • Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation
